MRPC believes strongly in the "Priesthood of All Believers" (cf. 1 Pet. 2:4-5; Rev. 1:5-6). That is to say that while we recognize the Lord's special calling in setting apart men for the offices of teaching elder, ruling elder, and deacon, we also recognize that every believer has received a calling to minister to one another as priests of Christ. Thus we believe in the importance of people ministering to people in all the ways that the Scriptures instruct. In a large church we must break down into subdivisions. SSC is the first step to breaking down into further sub-congregations.
Ministry can be most effectively achieved through a vested interest. Pray over your role in the SSC and see how the Lord might be leading you. If you are currently serving as a class officer, ask yourself, "Have I taken ownership in my role as a leader in the SSC?"
Our SSC are built on three core foundations: Community, Class, and Connecting. Just like a musical chord uses three notes in harmony, a SSC needs all three of these aspects in balance to be successful.
What is a Sunday School Community?
"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching"
(Heb.10:24-25, NIV).
The Sunday School Community (SSC) is the place where this Biblical command is best fulfilled at MRPC.
SSC's are characterized by:
- Excellent Biblical Teaching
- Fellowship and Encouragement
- Social Activities
- Ministry Opportunities
Joining a community is the first step toward deeper involvement at MRPC. The SSC's are primarily distributed by age and stage of life - current S.S. Communities (link over or down to listing)
For directions to your class, please stop by the Visitor's Center in the North Wing just outside the Sanctuary. If you have any questions, please contact Rev. Curtis DuBose at cdubose@mrpca.org or at (864) 268-2218/ext. 202.
