As evidenced by our mission statement, MRPC is firmly committed to the global advancement of the Gospel: "Advancing the Kingdom of Christ in hearts and minds throughout Greenville and around the world." One of the tangible ways we realize and apply this commitment is through an active missions and outreach program and emphasis.

Missions is one of MRPC's four cornerstones and is inseparably connected to the other three. For example, being obedient to the Lord's Great Commission requires our living all of life under His Lordship. Missions also involves Discipleship, as we seek not only to win people to Christ, but also to mold them into lifelong followers of our Lord. Missions is related to Congregational Life as we offer numerous opportunities at MRPC for believers to serve together in advancing the Kingdom throughout Greenville and around the world.

As with any area, God's glory and Kingdom are advanced in missions as we, His image-bearers, faithfully reflect His character and obey His commands. Missions should reflect God's own heart and love for people. Our message and ministry is one of reconciliation though the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul affirms,

"Christ's love compels us?all this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation" (2 Cor. 5:14-19).

Not only does the Lord commit this message to us, but He commands us toward this end. Although this calling to Gospel ministry is seen throughout Scriptures, it is most clearly stated in the Great Commission our Lord gave to His Church:

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you'" (Matt. 28:18-20).
