Why memorize Scripture?
Scripture instructs us to hide the word of God in our hearts. Scripture Memory is a discipline that accomplishes this purpose so that we may always live according to his word. When we memorize Scripture we are able to meditate on his precepts day and night.
What is a "Bible Memory Overview "?
The Bible Memory Overview program will give you a system to memorizing Scripture. In this program a short section of verses are selected to describe each book of the Bible. There is also a one page sheet which highlights important themes of each book. So when you are finished with the memorization program you will have a theme verse memorized for every book of the Bible! Therefore you will be able in any situation to recall what the book is about as well as walk through the Bible in explaining it to friends, family, or to those who are interested in the faith! Not only are you memorizing Scripture but you are also learning about God's redemptive plan through each book of Scripture!
How does it work?
Upon signing up for the program you will pick up a three ring binder. Every other week you will receive a one page summary statement as well as a card with the verse printed on it. These cards will allow you to place the verse in a convenient place for memorization (i.e. your car, your mirror, in your pocket, etc). There is also a ring provided for carrying all of these cards together. There are no prizes or rewards nor is it a competition. The joy come from a closer walk with Christ through a greater knowledge of the Scripture.

Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
It was a unique time in the life of the Church. The Lord had pronounced that the Holy Spirit would come upon the disciples in Jerusalem. From that event, which was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost (2:1-4), the Church began its expansion. For example, that day, through the Spirit-empowered preaching of Peter, 3,000 people were converted (2:41).
The believers also enjoyed a great degree of fellowship where they shared their faith, possessions, and devoted themselves to Christian disciplines (2:42-47; 4:32-35). The leadership of the Church was solidified by choosing Matthias to replace Judas (1:12-26) and establishing the Diaconate (6:1-7). Throughout Acts the Gospel advanced and the Kingdom moved forward. However, in 8:1-4 the church is persecuted and in God's providence the disciples are scattered for the Kingdom to advance!
Having formerly persecuted the Church (8:1,3), Saul is converted and then persecuted for his work for the Church (9:1-19; 16:22-24; 21:12-14, 30-32; 23:10, etc.) During his three missionary journeys Paul wrote 13 of the New Testament Epistles. Throughout his travels he took the Gospel to the Gentiles in the far reaches of the Roman kingdom in Rome. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the concluding verse of Acts reads, "Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ" (28:31).
