MRPC's Mission Statement: Advancing the Kingdom of Christ in hearts and minds throughout Greenville and around the world

Foundation Stones of our Ministry

Through the Lord's grace, we seek to accomplish our mission through four primary areas. We refer to these as the "foundation stones" of our ministry as we feel Scripture projects these foundational means as those through which the Lord will advance His Kingdom.

Stone #1 - The Chief Cornerstone: We Focus on the Lordship of Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:20; 1 Pet. 2:6)

Those that come to God through Jesus Christ cling to Him as both Savior and Lord. The Lordship of Jesus Christ is the most basic confessional statement of the Faith (Rom. 10:9; 1 Cor. 12:13; Col. 1:15-20; Phil. 2:11).

All angles are drawn from Him.

We seek to honor our King by worshipping Him (Matt. 28:17-18; Rev. 22:8-9) and witnessing about Him to others (Matt. 10:32; Acts 1:8).

Stone #2 - Personal Discipleship: We Focus on the Individual

Personal discipleship is Jesus' core strategy for the advancement of His Kingdom, as the principal command of the Great Commission is to "make disciples" (Matt. 28:19).

Discipleship is relational rather than programmatic in nature.

Discipleship is holistic. Advancing the Kingdom of Christ in "hearts and minds" refers to the whole person, and this includes intellect and affections (1 Chr. 28:9; Ps. 26:2-3; Matt. 22:37; Rom. 12:1-2; Heb. 8:10).

Stone #3 - Congregational Life: We Focus on the Community

The Church is God's primary vehicle for the advancement of the Kingdom of Christ on earth (Matt. 16:18). The Kingdom manifests itself in community, namely, the Church. This includes congregational life (i.e., Sunday School Communities, small groups, etc).

While we recognize that our Lord sets apart men in the Church to serve as teaching elder, ruling elder, and deacon, we also recognize that every Christian belongs to the "priesthood of all believers" (1 Pet. 2:9-10). That is, each believer, as a member of the Body of Christ, has been gifted by the Holy Spirit to minister to one another (Rom. 12:4-8; 1 Cor. 12:4-7; Eph. 4:11-13; 1 Pet. 4:10-11). Salvation involves our individual relationship with Christ, yet salvation is never a merely private matter (1 Cor. 12:13).

Two major concerns regarding congregational life are growth and multiplication. We desire for growth to be both qualitative and quantitative. We also desire to multiply through church planting and leadership development.

Stone #4 - Global Missions: We Focus on the World

The advancement of the Kingdom of Christ involves cross-cultural ministry. Our Lord commands His Church to reach the ends of the earth with the Gospel in order to make disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8).
